A/C compressor won't come on (SOLVED--PARTIALLY AT LEAST)

Thanks. I think you're right and I'll need to take it to a pro, but I was trying to save a few bucks and hoping to muddle through. Problem was I didn't realize that the compressor was still running when the noise of the clutch engaging stopped after a couple of seconds. I thought that, when the noise stopped, the compressor wasn't working. Foolish, I know, as all you need do is watch the pulley and you'll see what's happening. Got it charged up to the "blue area" on the Autozone guage (# is about 45). It doesn't blow very cold, so I'll have to check the charge level some more, and if it doesn't hold he pressure and get colder, I'll seek help. Thanks again . jim
