940 AT Transmission Flush 900

Hi all,

I visited our local Volvo only mechanic and was told that he wouldn't recommend I flushing my transmission. My car has 135K on it, and the transmission fluid is burnt (dark brown/black.. BAD!). He said that flushing the transmission could render the transmission in worse condition than before and/or cause it to fail. He was willing to do it but wouldn't be liable if anything happened.

I've read about mechanics saying this on this board before and I believe I recall people saying that what the Volvo mechanic said isn't true, but perhaps in my situation of some hard shifts and the progression of the color of the fluid it is true. I'd value anyones thoughts on what should be done in this situation. Thanks!
