It sounds like a bit of a shed, generally people aren't very discerning and really nice cars are not significantly more expensive than the slightly below average. Keep looking, find a peach.

I don't reckon your budget of 500 Dollars mainenance is enough, I reckon to spend at least twice that to get any Volvo this age up to proper running order
