'Clunk' from brake calipers - fix? 900

You've done pretty thorough diagnosis. Signs certainly do point to the brakes.

My concern with replacing just the slide pins is that the pin and bore work together to form this low speed bearing. While the pin certainly is suspect, so is the bore in the caliper bracket -- because "slop" can obviously be caused by two things: the pin being too small or the bore being too big (or some combination of the two).

You can buy just the pins and bracket -- I bought them from Voluparts in Georgia several years ago. Back then, the brackets were $35 each and the pins were $10 each. So for $55 per wheel, I had new movement mechanisms for my existing calipers. I was very happy with that fix -- and it worked flawlessly. But if I had to do it again today, I'd source the entire rebuilt calipers (rebuilt hydraulics with new pins and bracket) at FCP Groton for $52 per wheel. I'd be saving myself $3 and have fresh hydraulics to boot!

Good luck.
