I don't know if this issue has been settled yet, but here is what the Volvo Parts Book says in regards to the 1965 "Export" PV544 model:
The top emblem on the left (driver) side is the V-O-L-V-O emblem, Part Number 671159-2 which is All Capital Block Letters. This was a change for the 1965 model year. Previously the emblem started with a Capital V then small letters for the rest.
Underneath that is the "Sport" emblem. For 1965 (Chassis Number 419300 and higher) the correct emblem for the export (Sport) model, is the silver rectangular shape with the word "SPORT" in it. Part number 671189-9. The Script letter "Sport" emblem was discontinued with the 1964 model.
The B18 Emblem, Part Number 666444-5, seems to have remained a constant for all 544's built with that engine and it's correct location is on the right (passenger) side of the trunk lid.
Another fine point of Emblem selection for the 1965 PV544 is the grill emblem. It changed to the round Volvo logo that year. Part Number 670900-0. Previous models had the B-18 emblem, Part number 667184-6, at the top right hand side of the mesh grill. Likewise with the "544" on the sides of the hood. In 1965 it changed to the "Shield", Part Number 671096-6, replacing the previous "544" numbers.
So now, armed with these key recognition features, you are ready to go forth and do some serious 1965 PV544 "Spotting". Or at least order the correct trim pieces for your car.
These parts seem to be available through the usual "vintage volvo" parts suppliers and most of what you find on e-Bay are in poor condition, making a virtual eyesore on an expensive paint job.
