My guess as to why the performance tanks after ten minutes is due to the engine warming up and probably running at higher RPMs. Carbs demanding more fuel, everything running much faster, fuel being used at a higher rate...

You carb float settings *might* be involved...

Still, most symptoms point to a fuel pump issue. I mentioned late model volvos in the other thread because they usually have an inline fuel filter midway under the car. When they clog up, the behavior is similar to what you are describing.

What sort of spacer do you have between your fuel pump and your engine block? a wrong size can change the performance of the pump severely...
