1998 V90 vs. 2000 V70 GLT S90-V90

I am in the market for a wagon and am considering getting a post-1998 FWD Volvo. I have absolutely NO experience with FWD Volvos and can only go on what I read online, a lot of which is VERY negative ("touchy, expensive, unreliable, never again, etc.").
The reason why I am considering changinge sides is because of the total lack of V90's/965's where I live (Colorado is apparently the RWD Volvo vacuum of the whole world).
If they do exist, they have excessive mileage (for me, over 150 000) or are just outrageously priced (ca. $10 000,- with said mileage). No freakin' way!
Long story short, how do the later model FWD wagons stack up against the traditional non-Ford Volvos as concerns reliability, quirkiness, performance, etc.?
Please let me hear from you. Don't bother sparing my feelings. I need to know before I jump out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Ryan M.
