So i got a 1990 240DL with 201,000 on it, and I changed the water pump yesterday because there was a small leak. looked like it was coming from the bottom of the pump, maybe from the gasket or something.
Anyway, so i changed the pump and gasket. When i removed the old water pump, the red heater return hose, that runs by the exhaust manifold, i noticed the connection that inserts into the water pump was getting a little corroded, but still had enough to work with. SO put eveything back together lats night, finsih the job and drive the car, She was runnning fine.
this morning when i went out to the car I noticed a bunch of collant leaked out. I open the hood and dont really see a leak. So i start to fill up the tank again with coolant, and as it is filling i see coolant pouring out from the connection where the red return pipe is. Not good. I used the little black seal that goes in there, but it must have been too corroded and fell apart when it was all being tightened up.
So i want to know how many other people experience this, and if it is an easy fix by just getting one at the junkyard or something. And also we have an old 82 240 that we have for parts, so I was wondeing if off the top of someones head if thy know if that car has one i could grab. The cars not at my house so i cant go look.
I was trying to think of a termporary fix or something I could wrap it with but i am clueless.
Supposed to go do an appraisal right now, but I cant drive 80 miles with coolant leaking the whole time.
thanks!!!!
