Car seems slow 120-130

I just bought a 1968 122s (automatic)had it towed home, then charged the battery checked and changed some fluids. When I turned the key it stsrted right up idled a little shaky but not bad for not being run since 2004 so I put it in drive and took off down the road first thing I noticed was front end making squeaky noise but plan on redoing front end over anyway, Exhaust hitting floor not a big problem. But all I could get out of her was about 25 mph. Back to the garage pulled the cap and noticed it would not lock into distributor (wrong cap) so I changed points, cap, rotor reset timing adjusted valves then out for a ride ran better but could only get it up to 50mph. Back to the garage. Time for carb work pulled float bowls apart and cleaned adjusted levels pulled apart and cleaned air chambers pistons needles cleaned out passageways for fuel then noticed that the throttle disk was not at wide open when wife put pedal to floor, checked linkage and found broken ball and socket at firewall so I made up a small clevis and pin with a threaded adjuster and welded it together (temp fix) now I could adjust for WOT with pedal to the floor, put carbs back together and adjusted. Now I take her for test drive acceleration is much better auto shifiing is better and can easily reach 65-70 mph. Now for my question I plan on using her as a daily commuter round trip about 50 miles mostly highway but just to keep up with trafic I need to cruise at 75-85 mph is this to much to ask of her and a B18 engine with 269,000 miles on it? Is that about top speed for this set? Is that why I read alot of motor changes to a B20 engine? Or is my B18 up to the task and I just need to find out what else is wrong with her?
Thanks
