Oil leaking onto Water Pump? 900 1995

We just had a new Volvo water pump installed on our '95 940 Turbo with 130K miles at our independent shop. I looked at it while filling up on gas just to make sure it was not leaking and noticed it did look wet on the top. I dried it off and it seems to be oil, not the coolant I would have expected if the seal of the water pump was leaking. What could be causing this?
