update 200

my daughter called me last night to mention she was chatting with her neighbor who owns the orchard across the road. both he and my daughter and her husband have fruit growing operations.

anyway she told him about her dads (me) troubles with the car/bullet!

he asked exactly when this took place and she told him near as she could and then sowed him the car as it is still on her farm, we borrowed one of theirs and i will return this weekend with parts to repair it.

she said after looking at the car he became very upset and the conversation ended.

anyway a few hours later he comes over with one of his teenage sons (17. it seems the he and some friends were "fooling around" around the same time across the road.

she said, he the farmer was on the edge of rage. his son, john genuinely apologized and said he would personally pay for all damages i incur in repairing the car at which point his dad told my daughter to make sure he gets the bills and he will see to it the matter is resolved.

question:

i was young once and did really stupid things as well.
this is going to cost several hundred dollars at least if i use only new parts and a lot even if i don't. i will do all the labor so no worries there.

all you older dads and grand dads out there, would u if u were me really make this kid pay 'all' the cost? thats quite a bit for a 17 year old who is clearly sorry and from a responsible family?
