i was reclassified 1A in 1969 when i fell behind 1 semester in university. my draft number was as i recall in the 20's or low 30's with lottery so i was called up and sent over. i have no bullet holes but am an expert in shrapnel and its lasting ugly effect on flesh and bone and i was slit from just in front my right ear forward to my skin in hand to hand. a scar i still carry to this day though faded a lot in the intervening years.

as an aside when i got back and finished engineering school i nevr really noticed the scar as it required me to turn my face slightly when i looked in the mirror. BUT most girls were horrified by it and as i found out years later some girls actually found it quite erotically masculine when they found out how i obtained it. how's that for bent?

i do not like guns to be honest and have never had one since returning. the kid will have a tough enough time in this life without me playing with his mind.
