Overdrive arrow coming on randomly 700

At times, my overdrive arrow comes on faintly, or flickers. I would say it only happens at night or early morning, but that could just be the ambient light.
I never notice that the shifting changes. Sometimes it seems more prevalent when wet. Is this a problem with frayed insulation under the car or something similar?
I haven't crawled under the car yet, since it hasn't changed the operation of the car.
