Removal of VSS 900

Howdy! I'm trying to remove the speed sensor on my '91 940 Turbo wagon.

Is the one allen screw the only thing holding the sensor to the differential? Should it slide out after the screw is removed? Should I turn or wiggle the sensor out or should it slide straight out?

Secondly, the wires at the sensor connection are completely frayed. I don't think there is enough "slack" on the wire to cut off the offending part, reconnect it and still reach the sensor. How hard is it to replace the wires from the sensor to the connection inside the trunk/hatch by the tire well.

Thanks a bunch for your thoughts!

Tommy
