Battery light has come on S90-V90

Just got back from my summer vacation to the beach-4 hour drive- drive down great-car ran beutifully-on the way back my battery light came on with just a faint hint of a glow- just about 20 miles from home the battery completly drained out-got the car home though. I have taken the alt out and have had it checked at advance auto-they say it's fine. Now anyone have any ideas on how to track down a short? Should I start by removing fuses and try to find the culprit that way? I have always had real difficulity in finding eletrical glitches.
