My '68 P220 can move and stop now! Yesterday, I bypassed the booster after seeing so much fluid in the vacuum line. When I removed it, about 1/2 a pint poured out of the vacuum port. With it off, I was able to finally bleed all of the air out of the front brakes, so I finally put the new (used) gas tank in (thanks Chris), started it and drove it all 50 feet down the driveway to where the other cars are (brakes worked, yeah!) then back into the garage. A first!
With the booster removed, the engine smokes MUCH less, and maybe once I actually start driving it, it will stop. But at least now I can focus on getting it running right. When I bought it, the throttle linkage was all apart, the heat shield off, and other evidence of someone farting around with the intake and carbs. It's got the apparently awful butterfly manifold, but I'll see about freeing up the butterflies or removing them, and tune it. It doesn't sound too bad, but has no power; backing up the gentle slope into the garage, it choked, popped, and bucked a lot. But then again, I've not even checked the points, or plugs, so a thorough tune-up is in order.
The good news is, it only seems to leak oil from the front seal, the back seal, the pan gasket, the valve cover gasket, and the oil pressure switch ;-P
