Thanks! 120-130 1968

Thanks for all the info guys!

These drums were nice with no evidence of damage - even a little original paint on them (?!) I guess, I'll assume for the moment that the looseness of the driver's drum was due to a bad nut and nothing bad like split steel. Even so I have some spares on hand.

The rear brake mechanism differs somewhat from others that I've seen and from the set that I removed from the 67 wagon (swapped axles). The difference is mainly that the adjusters are a screw-in-tube thingie adjusted by a star-pointed wheel. Just turn the wheel to dial out a new width. There's an anti-spin locking tab that's connected via a heavy wire to a small triangular arm on the forward edge of the drum brake mechanism. There's a another wire that runs from the triangular arm up to a big pin at the top of the brake mechanism. My 67 does not have these, so I'm not sure if these are the automatic adjusters or if they are just a later style brake setup.

Either way, it sounds as if I got them adjusted reasonably well. I certainly can't argue with the results. They grab evenly now and the e-brakes now keep the car from rolling out of the carport. I figure that I still need to adjust the e-brake cable as it is only really grabs at the top, but that's a simple issue to address.
