Putting Stock 240 Alloy Wheels on my 92 740 - Spacers needed on Front-HELP 700 1992

Whatever you choose to do, it might not be a bad idea to test fit the wheel over 1/4" stacks of washers. This would be a cheap way to know that the wheel will clear the caliper & that the studs are long enough. You should have at least 1/2" of thread engaged (the rule of thumb is that one diameter's worth of thread engagement between similar materials will make the threads stronger than the stud/bolt - the stud will break before the thread will strip). Keep in mind that 740 studs are metric and the swanky, shiny 240 Virgo nuts are imperial.

The bolt patterns of 240s & 740s are definitely the same...I mix & match 15" steel wheels between both my wagons with no problems.
