35 Amp Alternator? 1800 1971

Last year, I completely scrapped a 1971 1800 and transplanted most of the goodies into my 1967 122S. Since I already upgraded my 67, I saved the 1800E's alternator for use at some point in the future. i never got around to looking at it until yesterday.

It appears to be just a 14 volt 35 amp unit, but looks identical to a troublesome 55 amp spare I have on hand.

35 amps seems a bit low for a fuel injected 1971 1800E. Is that what came stock? It hardly seems like I'd get much an improvement installing it on my "new" generator-equipped 1968 122S... Yet it ran a much more electrically intensive system before...

The brushes are shot in both 35 amp and 55 amp units, but I have one set of New Old Stock replacements that did not really help the 55 amp unit, but would probably restore the 35 amp unit...

Still 35 hardly seems worth the effort.
Any recommendations?

I have a 68 block with a cast "ear" so I don't need Ron's or IPD's kit.
I do not want to but ANOTHER alternator
