M41 capacity 120-130

Driving up from Berkeley to Nevada City yesterday, car began to drop in and out of OD into 4th. Thought it might be electrical (rat's have had a heyday with the wiring under the hood while I was away), Pulled the boot and shift lever and found the reverse wire chewed up where it passes over the trans cover to the backup light contact on the rear of the trans, but not the wiring to the OD. So I added some oil and that solved the problem. I didn't have a wrench to check the level at the filler plug. I didn't see any leaking so I'm a little puzzled as to why the level was low, if that's what was causing this. Today I figured to draine and refill the trans, but am away from my resource materials and so am relying on someone to tell me the capacity for a J type M41.
thanks
