'89 740 Window Electrical Problem 700 1989

Hi,
I'm having problems with my car draining the battery and I think the electric windows working in off is another symptom of the problem. The car is an '89 740 GLE with a swapped out tranny, otherwise it's completely stock.

With the key out of the ignition the windows will go up and down just fine, as if the key was in the ignition. When the window relay is unplugged, the windows still work. In further snooping around to attempt to solve this, I unplugged the connector to the ignition switch and tried the windows again. They still worked!

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions for fixing the window problem?

Thanks,
Daniel
