1993 240 Stalls after driving hard in hot weather 200

1993 240 210,000 second owner. Great car. 3 times in the last year has stalled while driving-- once on the interstate after 3 hours of running great with the ac on, once driving around town w/ ac on, once on interstate after about 45 mins driving running great. Suddenly starts losing power slows to a stop and dies. Wait 10 mins and it will start again but will not run more than a few minutes. The longer you wait, the longer it will run after the restart.
The first time mechanic replaced the fuel filter and the plug wires.
The second time--3 months after the first--they replaced the dist cap and rotor and tested the fuel pump pressure.
It had a new MAF 10,000 mi ago. Flame trap filter 5,000 ago.
Last week when it quit, I had it towed to a different mechanic since my old one has retired and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I picked it up today, drove it home (8 miles) and it ran great.
Any ideas? I don't want to take it to the Vovlo dealer and have a huge bill without some idea what might be the mystery problem.
My 85 turbo used ot eat fuel pump relays and a few pumps themselves. My 88 240 has almost 500,000 miles and has never done anything like this. My other 93 240 runs great and has never done this.
Any ideas or pointers would be much appreciated.
