Mounting Bilsteins 120-130

My 122 has ancient Monroes on the front. I have a new set of IPD Bilsteins ready for installation. More I look at the Monroes, the more I think they were installed upside down! Anyway, the nearly oblong fitting on the Monroe rod is at the top. If I mount the Bilsteins where the writing on the shock is right way around, the oblong fitting will be on the bottom. Best I can tell, that is correct in the Haynes manual as well.

Also, the Green manual shows a difference in nut placement on the shock rod depending on type. Unfortunately, Bilsteins are not on the list. Any wisdom/experience on mounting the new Bils greatly appreciated.
