If you changed the SU needle valves, and the ones you have are modern SU, then bear in mind the design was changed a few years ago. To make the modern style neddle/float assembly work you need the matching lids.

Modern floats are one piece plastic, the old ones are plastic with a metal arm. If you have all plastic floats and old lids they'll leak.

SU needles do come in two parts, I think the one piece ones are aftermarket.
