Hi all
I thought i would post this as others might have the same problem.
I have an 1987 740 turbo with a b230ft LH 2.2, i have had a fuel economy problem for as long as i owned the car, i had everything replaced from the pumps to the injectors, FPR, and resealed eveything, new turbo plumbing and intercooler, k and N airfilter, new AMM, and a new ECT, and tuned the air fuel mix, Which made no difference. till about 1 weeks ago when the local fuel station ran out of my usual fuel Premium Unleaded 95 octane, so i resulted in putting standard unleaded 91 octane.
So after driving around i found out that my fuel consumption went down to 11L/ per 100ks in the city, and 8L/ per 100ks this right on factory fuel consumption, Compared to my normal consumptio of 13L/100 in town 11L on the highway.
So I ended up doing alot of drivng around town, and on the open road to see if this is true. About 200ks in town and a long highway trip of about 2000ks in total.
Could any body please tell me why this is. I thought premium is meant to give me better fuel consumption
P.S found that using 98 octane made is use even more 15L/100 in town and 12L/100.
Thanks
