replacing aw-71 transmission 700 1988

I'm replacing the AW-71 transmission in my 1988 760 GLE with an AW-71 out of a
'91 740. Besides the bell housing and various other bits and pieces that need to be exchanged, I need to swap the kick-down cable, as the cable from the 740 is about a foot longer. Can the cable be accessed by removing the fluid pan? With the pan removed, is there anything else besides the filter and pan gasket to be replaced while I'm in there?
Thanks,
Brion
