Try using the back of your hand and tapping on the face, or.... 200

Yes, you just have to love the Dance of the Temp Needle. Nothing like that feeling of panic when you think that you are about to overheat your engine and that your head gasket is in peril. Then you find out that the Temp Faker (that’s what is on the front of the gauge) is being taken for a ride by that silly Temp Comp Board.

Before performing the well deserved random act of violence to the board, you can gently remove two of those contacts from the board and use as the jumper lead connectors. There are four on there so you have backups if you mess up one or two. Someone here on the BB found some parts at Radio Shack that fit also.

After the board is removed and the jumper in place you will see that your temp is suddenly very steady. The Temp Faker in 86 stays at 9:30 all the time now. And while you may miss the thumping of the Instrument Cluster and the banging of that cracked dash top, being able to believe what temp your engine is really as Martha Stewart says, “is a good thing”.

Regards,

PLT
