Wagon rear windshield wiper mystery???? 200 1992

Here's an odd one. So I go to drive my car today and once started up I noticed the rear windshield wiper is operating. I thought this to be strange as I definitely hadn't used it in a while and knew the switch wouldn't be on. But I checked the switch, and sure enough it was in the off position. I tried switching to the intermittent setting and to full and back to off and so on and it had no effect on the wiper's continued operation. It rained pretty heavily last night and into this morning, but I saw no evidence of any water leak through the fire wall that may be affecting a relay or something. Any ideas? Turning the car on and off didn't stop the problem, nor did scratching my head. Thanks for your help.
