A/C Modification 1800 1971

To all who answered, Thanks for all the help. I ended up just keeping the old York. Turned out it wasn't totally dead after all. Yes you need new hoses if you are converting to 134 because the molecular composition is such that regular hoses will leak. Found all kinds of information on the other units in Vintage Air (www.vintageair.com) Catalog. The deciding factor is the condenser. As one e-mail explained, the original doesn't work as well with the 134. My mechanic confirmed this. I live in the desert and I need all the help I can get. On the hottest days (110+) even with the York at full blast It still does not keep the car cool enough to prevent the occupants from sweating. And I have my 1800 in a garage! Maybe someday I'll put in a complete new unit from Vantage Air but for now it's the old York.

Happy Driving.
