Synthetic Oil - Flame Trap 200 1989

So I switched over to synthetic oil in the '88 244...kind of pricey, but I feel good about it. Do I still need the FLAME TRAP?? I understand that the crankcase ventilation system is necessary - after twice changing seals I definitely understand that - but do I need the little white plastic flame arrestor if I'm running synthetic? Is hot synthetic flammable?

Thanks...
