Choosing replacement parts

Personally I buy from the dealer or I buy brand name parts, ATE, Bilstein, Bosch. Ultimately it depends on how hard the car is used and how far from home it strays. Breaking down a few thousand miles from home tends to cost more than breaking down a bus ride away across town where you canm ask a friend to tow you home.

There is a difference in cheap no name parts and quality. There is seldom a difference in quality brand, OEM spec and Volvo blue box. However Volvo can be cheaper than aftermarket.

My 940 managed 11000 miles in less than 2 months, that warrants quality parts and quality lubricants, YMMV
