Bushing replacement question for a/c compressor 200 1986

DaBrick is right. When I did all those bushings on my '86, I did not have to disconnect the AC compressor nor the power steering pump. There's enogh play to move them aside while you R&R the bushings.

To do the AC, it's easier to move aside anything mounted above it. Sometimes it is hard to press in the new bushings. One thing that helped me was to bevel the edges of the bushings on a grinder (a file would do too). Then it easier to get the busing started. On some really hard ones, I made an installer tool with a long bolt and some washers. Put the bolt through the bushing and the mounting bracket, place a large washer on the bolt to cover the opening in the bracket, spin on a nut and tighten the bolt/nut to press the bushing into the bracket.

BEFORE removing the old bushings, make a drawing of which side of the bracket the large end of the bushing goes, it makes a difference. Don't ask me how I learned this.
