camshaft oil seal leak 200

Hi, my '89 240 has just had all front oil seals replaced as there was a small leak from the crankshaft seal. Now, after replacing them there is a considerable leak from the new camshaft seal. I didn't do the work- an indy non-volvo mechanic did. I brought it back- he told me that it was because 1) the camshaft is so worn the seal will not seat properly or 2) crankcase pressure is too high and the engine should be junked. This seems stupid as there are no other oil leaks (except an old slow rear main seal leak) and flame trap etc is clear.
But I didn't know what to say about the first claim- that the camshaft is 'worn'. Is this a possibilty? I'm new to doing work on cars and I haven't heard of this happening before.
i think that he hasn't installed the seals properly and just doesn't want to do the job again. Thanks guys for any ideas.
