So I finally managed to escape West Virginia. I found a way to get moved and promoted within the same company. The only problem I had was that the move came up so suddenly that I had to take a one-way plane ticket instead of the road trip I wanted. Three weeks later, and I've got an '07 Subaru Impreza in the garage in Denver (not my choice. .. the company made me), and my 240 sitting in storage in Pennsylvania. As soon as I find the time, the Volvo will be making the trip, too.
Preparing for the trip, I had the usual thorough car check-up done (timing belt, front seals, coolant flush, thermostat, etc.). Part of that was an AC charge. I picked the car up after hours at the mechanic's place, and the invoice had a note on it that went like this:
"AC charge is OK, but there's a problem. Something from the switch to the compressor. Look by the air meter: 3 wires, 2 bypassed. The black goes to the AC and will run the pump. The green goes to the dryer/passenger side by headlight - no power from dash control."
This guy's a damn good volvo mechanic, but he's been having some family issues lately (hence the quickly scribbled explanation on the invoice) and hasn't been available. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Even if it's a quick-and-dirty fix, it might be necessary to survive an august drive through the midwest sitting on blue volvo vinyl.
