95 940 - What is normal fan behavior? 900

If the engine compartment is quite hot (as you describe) and the fan never comes on after shutdown then that can be indicative of an AC system problem. In my experience with 900's, for a cooling that's in good shape the fan may rarely come on after engine shutdown with a B230FD, but for a B230FT, the extra heat is almost always enough to make the fan want to run a few extra seconds on a hot day. Although the problem at hand was not the same as yours, you should check out this thread for details on how the 900 fan system works.
