Shiftlock Problem 200

Car is 1993, 240 sedan, automatic,160,000 miles. Pouring rain, drive to bank, come out, car will not shift out of park. Replace brake fuse, no shift. Test for brake lights, lights are on, won't shift; brakes do not feel as firm as usual.
Press shift release button, no help. Try to find ring within shifter to pull to release, nothing there. take off shifter cover to see if can pry something to get going, to my business lunch appointment, no help. Stuck. Shut car off. Turn car back on, hit brakes, shift and go !!!
Back to work, leave no problems. Stop at hardware store, come back out, won't shift. Won't budge.
Help...
Thanks for any advice in advance-Rick
