Hard to remove OD 700

Cannot remove the OD from my 1989 740 turbo wagon. The existing OD is bad has a cracked output flange, and case, and is leaking fluid. Felt like a u-joint going bad when I last drove the car. I bought a good used OD from Voluparts, and began the install process, but can not remove the old unit. I don't want to destroy the transmission, by hammering or prying, bur it is obvious that the defective OD has latched onto the output shaft of the trans, and won't let go. Any help out there? I am not adverse to using heat or cutting the case on the OD because I have the correct replacement. This car has 300k, but a new trans, and an engine I just swapped in. Good body, and I would like to keep it.

thanks,
Mike K
