Limiting strap failure after only a few days? 120-130

Hi, I ordered a pair of rear axle limiting straps from "Duel445" on eBay - a reputable seller with a lot of positive feedback. I installed them last weekend when I repaired and flushed my fuel tank. I put the car up on jacks this week to investigate my exhaust system. Today, I discovered that one of my two brand new limiting straps has torn out under just the weight of the axle in only a few days.

This seems like a defective part. The other new strap is holding fine. The two OEM Straps on my wagon have been supporting an 1800E axle for several months with no trouble at all.

Does failure sound like a defective part, or are they really that weak? Have I just been very lucky in my other experiences?
