Electric cooling fan replacement 900

1995 965.
The electric cooling fan packed it in this morning. I guess my options are:

A)New from the guys in CT, about $400 when they get it in stock.
B) Second hand from the guys named after a Great Lake. Ebay pricing seems to be in the range of $100. History unknown, but I figure they'll at least test it before shipping.
C)New aftermarket 16" fan about $100, ships immediately.

I'm inclined to go with the aftermarket, because it's new. Second hand will be about as old as the one that failed. Plus the aftermarket only pulls about 12-15A. Given that Volvo put a 50A fuse on that circuit, that original fan probably used a lot more current.

I'm puzzled about the red & green wires. Normally, the green circuit relay has switching power. If red is activated the green relay is de-activated. Did the OEM fan have a resistor pack inside the fan to give low/high speeds? There's no resistor on either the red or green wire, so the same amount of power is being delivered at the end of each wire.

Thanks,

Ted
