Advise/suggestions on replacing IRS with an 8.8' solid axle for my 1990 760

Hey all,
I'm new here....Just bought a 1990 760GLE with a 5.0/AOD setup. I'm thinking about adding some heads, intake and a single turbo, I have everything figured out except the rearend/rear suspension.
The car would make 500+ HP with the turbo, as well as 600+ ft/lbs torque. Over on Turbobricks, a couple guys have done it, I need to know all the details....i could get an 8.8 from an explorer or mustang or whatever, have custom axles made to fit the volvo wheels, shorten the width of the axle as needed....what about the floorpan? the rear subframe? would I need the Kaplhenke rear subframe? I'd like to run 9 or 10" wide rims, is this possible without a mini-tub out back?
Also, I've read of guys saying to seam weld the entire car, I know from the mustangs that a 6-point bar and a few chassis reinforcements do the trick-how critical is seam welding on these cars? I assume they are stiffer than the foxbodys?
Any and all help would be appreciated. I know I'll need a solid axle volvo donor car for the fuel tank, etc. and a little fabrication doesn't bother me.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Rich-
