It sounds like you already have the mirrors or I
would suggest you do what i did. I bought a set of
swan neck mirrors from a hot rod supplier. They were
definitely cheaper and they don't interfere(sp) with
the wing window operation on either side AND I can see
very well out of both mirrors.
The stud did screw into the base and a nut and lock washer holds
them in place from the inside.
Okay, I think i am going to answer your question here:
When I took the metal door panel off at the top there
was not enough room to access the area where I had drilled
through. The only option was to take the guts out of the door
and reach up inside
OR
I took my dremmel tool and i cut away at the door panel where
the studs would come through. The panel i cut away is about 6 inches
long by about 2 inches high. It still was a tight fit but I had no
real trouble installing the mirrors. I used a little POR15 on it to seal
where i had bare metal and it is all hidden behind the metal door panel
at the top.
