tranny swap from 86 240 sedan to 88 240 wagon both AT 200

hello!

I've never done this before, hope i'm not over my head, but I think my fuel pump is going out on my sedan and it needs new rotor, wheel, and caliper on back passenger side (don't ask) and has rust so i purchases an 88 240 wagon with bad AT which i'd prefer for my junkness abilities and it has very low rust but slightly higher mileage.

anyhow, I am to take the 225k tranny out of my 86 sedan and put it into the 300k 240 wagon.

i'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure out how i am to get the trannies lowered out of these safely (which i CAN do with long boards out both sides of the vehicle and then stepping the tranny down by pulling out one 2x4 at a time from each side alternately until the tranny is lowered all the way to the ground.

Do you think this would be the approach to use in the other direction? I am concerned that I won't be able to get the other one into the correct possition and get bolts and stuff back on. Anyone know how much an AT tranny actually weighs?????

Also, do i need to replace the bolts for the tranny-drive shaft coupling? They look like they are some kind of lock nuts with aluminum inside or something

Also, Is it easier to just pull the engines now? Or can I do that later? I would think that i would want to get more mileage out of the 300k engine while I fix up on the 225k engine outside of the other car on an engine mount of some sort. with the rope trick and all seems like i could fix a lot on it ?

Also the service manual states to take the exhaust off, i don't know that i would really need to do that?

Do I have to disconnect the kickdown from inside the tranny pan or can i disconnect from in the driver compartment?

Also, whats all this about getting the 'torque convertor' gently away from something with a screwdriver?
