Recent poor mileage and rough idle 960 900 1996

For the last couple months my wife's 965 has been getting dreadful mileage in town and on highway. It used to get 25 highway and about 18 in town, but no more. I've also noticed the idle is not buttery smooth as it used to be. About the same time, I realized the hot air flap door in the airbox had been only allowing hot air into the intake, for how long I do not know. That's fixed now but the mileage problem remains. Coincidence?
There are no warning lights glowing meaning the computer has not noticed anything amiss. Possible issues that come to mind are: fried AMM, coolant temp sensor, O2 sensor. Any ideas out there where to start?
