Pre-pump failure HEEELLLPPP!!! 900 1994

Hi All
I replaced my main and pre fuel pumps approx 2months ago(pre-pump had died and original main w/181k). Unfortunately today on way home I noticed the sounds of a straining main fuel pump...I dug down to the pre-pump area and started vehicle and confirmed my worst suspicions. My new pre-pump is inop. So to nail this down I am thinking first I should ascertain the location of the ground for this here circuit and makes sure she's clean and solid.
Does anyone know where this ground is? If this fails to make the pre-pump run I will check for voltage at the connector in the drivers side rear wheel well(2 feet from pre-pump)and make sure I got juice there. I am testing for voltage on the black and white wires? There are like 4 wires in there...I'm kinda a rookie with electronic diagnostics..I bought the pre-pump from FCP groton so I'd assume they are decent quality, what are the odds I got a bad outta box?? As an aside in the
2 months since the repair I had an accident and had 1600$ worth of damage to the right front quarter panel, could this have damaged the pre-pump? Just a thought!
All replies apreciated? Art? Lucid? Ayeroll?
Thanks
Matt
