what is the rubber hose under the oil seperator 200 1990

Hi All
when I had my oil seperator out i noticed a rubber hose in the block.
it was in the smaller of the two holes under the seperator.
does it need to be replaced how have you pulled it out?
where does it go?
I was suprised to see gears in the old distrib opening. In theroy could these
engines be made to run with points and carbs ?
have a nice day
by the way my engine never ran better after a good cleaning of the pcv system
you could hear a sucking sound when you took off the oil fill cap. Prior to
cleaning air was blowing out of there.
I think alot of rear seals are replaced when the culprit is excessive crankcase preasure.
