Is this normal? Need QUICK answer if possible.

Thanks much. Wife just left on her trip.

I was able to get the cap off, and it settled down - finally leaving the level low in the reservoir tank. I cranked the car and added coolant to bring it back up, and it started to try and boil over again. I put the cap on - and all seems well.

This car has smelled hot for a long time now. I replaced the water pump, but it is still losing water a bit at a time somewhere. Just have to get it to a shop and checked out throughly.

NOW THAT I THINK ON IT, I have been adding water to it a little at a time for so long there is no antifreeze there. I imagine that does not make for an optimum cooling system.

Thanks again for the reply.
