Sounds like a similar problem I had. Do you have the 3 round dial controller with 2 push buttons? Mine was acting the same way but would not get real cold when it
would cool. I finally took it to a shop and we replaced the controller.

Volvo now makes a replacement again but they are really expensive (about $800.00)
Somebody had one for sale here in the classifieds recently pretty cheap. there is also a section in the 700 900 FAC about repairing the units.

Lastly FCP Groton had some surplus ones for $250.

In any event you still need to diagnose the problem for sure because it costs a lot to be wrong. Air conditioning seems to be an issue that not many folks talk about here!
