fuse blows, engine dies 200 1983

Our 1983 240 5 speed manual transmission wagon intermittantly blows the 12th fuse (8 amp), and the engine stops. It only occurs while accelerating and shifting from neutral into 1st and mainly while turning left. It appears there may be a short.
12th fuse : backup lamps - seem to work ok
relay power windows - rear drivers window works intermittently
El heated seats - none
A/C - not working for several years before this problem began
Cu heater fan ???? What is this ?????
Press gauge turbo - none
What would most likely cause the engine to die, yet once the fuse is changed, the car starts right up and runs for days before it occurs again ???
