What is this Part?? Bosch Valve? 700

Hi,

Got my car to run. Although it is still rough, etc.

Found a valve with electrical connector, i guess to the ECU. Obviously some sort of vacum control, thermostat maybe?

Carbon Canister -> Valve -> bottom of intake manifold.

If i disconnect it, the car runs better, not great, but better. Doesnt stall atleast. Or if i block up the hose with my thumb, the car dies.

Still blowing abit of black smoke, maybe a cause?
Also the car still has no power.

I cant figure out what it is & what it does. Any ideas?

EDIT: I found it to be a fuel tank check valve or Purge valve on Saabs.
Bosch P/N 0 280 142 157.
I still dont know what info it sends to the computer & why the car is better when it isnt there.

I can blow air through it no problem.
Is the carbon canister i need of replacement?
