740 Turbo will not start when hot 700 1985

Suggest you check out the Neutral Safety Switch, also referred to in the FAQ as Start Inhibitor Switch located at the base of the gear shift lever on automatics. This is covered under Electrical Systems Starting and Charging. This happened to my 740 -- same symptoms. The FAQ gives some tips to adjust the shift rod etc. without replacing the unit. Replacing is what I ended up working for me. You have to remove the center console plastic pieces surrounding the shift lever. I believe it's about a $50 part. Hope this gets you on the right track for your hot no-crank problem -- that particular one can be REAL frustrating.
